Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) mobile packing events allow people across the United States to pack life-giving meals.  In 2007, millions of meals were produced through mobile packing events in Tennessee, Arizona, Illinois, Minnesota, Virginia, and various other locations.  The goal for 2008 is to produce 10 million meals through mobile packing.  FMSC invites your group – whether it is a church, business, or youth gathering – to host an event that provides a unique volunteer experience to reach children around the world.

There are 3 important general requirements for hosting off-site events:

  1. All events must have at least 500 food-packing volunteers.
  2. A minimum of 100,000 meals must be packed during the event.
  3. Groups considering hosting a mobile packing event must commit to making a donation to FMSC to pay for the meals packed.  Each meal costs 17 cents to produce, so the minimum event cost is $17,000.

Additionally, there are several logistic requirements for event sites:

  • Forklift
  • Loading dock with a dock plate or a parking lot with a large level area for a 53’ semi-truck to unload
  • Clear pathway with 48” door width from truck drop-off area to packaging room (no thick carpet)
  • 1,300 square feet of space to pack and store food (minimum, no thick carpet)
  • 6’ tables (minimum of 24)
  • Sinks for washing dishes or dishwasher
  • Events must be scheduled at least 6 weeks prior to event start date
  • Other requirements will be determined after speaking with FMSC staff

If you are interested in hosting a mobile packing event and fit the above criteria, contact the FMSC Off-site Operations Department to learn more.  Your message should include your mailing address so you can receive an information packet.
