Dear Friend of FMSC,

A 16-year-old Haitian boy named Jon quietly walks the muddy alleys of his poor hometown, St. Louis du Nord, Haiti. He carries a five-gallon bucket of cooked MannaPack Rice from Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) and a large ladle.
Jon staves off pleading stares and aggressive approaches by people he passes. They know and want what’s in the bucket. He’s on his bi-weekly route delivering FMSC food to the blind, deaf, and crippled—those unable to make it up the hill to Northwest Haiti Christian Mission (NWHCM), an FMSC distribution partner.
Jon doesn’t say much—only knocks on the small hut doors, scoops a cup of food into a bowl, and moves on. Those receiving the meal know he’ll be back in a couple days with more, just as he’s done for the past three years with the “Meals on Heels” program of NCHCM.
Since 2008, this partner in Haiti has received more than 10.5 million MannaPack meals. The food is used in the mission’s orphanage for children with special needs, a medical clinic for babies, and a retirement home for senior citizens. And the cooks in the kitchen make an
extra batch for Jon’s bucket, and the other “Meals on Heels” delivery volunteers.
While FMSC provides the food Jon gives away, he provides us with much more. He shows us what it means to give what we can. He humbly demonstrates how to serve like Christ—without expecting any recognition, and only out of compassion for those in need.
Following Jon’s example, let’s demonstrate Christ-like compassion for

the 12,000 residents of Jon’s hometown, St. Louis du Nord, and the rest of Haiti still recovering from the earthquake. |

the 500 hungry orphans at a youth home in Kenya and many more in the 70 countries FMSC serves through mission partnerships. |
Will you answer the call to serve like Jon? Please give, so FMSC can help “the least of these.” Together, we can feed those who would otherwise go hungry.
Jon will head out on his route again tomorrow, giving a ladle of food to the most destitute. What will you give?
Praying that we can be God’s humble, life-saving servants together,

Mark Crea, Executive Director
P.S. With your help, we’ll send Northwest Haiti Christian Mission 2.6 million MannaPack Rice meals and some 124,000 MannaPack Potato meals this year—and Jon can continue his deliveries. Thank you!
“Only 2% of charities we rate have received at least 7 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Feed My Starving Children outperforms most other charities in America,” said a letter from Ken Berger, Charity Navigator’s President & CEO in early November. “This ‘exceptional’ designation differentiates FMSC from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.“
