Stories of Feeding God's Children Hungry in Body & Spirit

Who gets to live?

Who gets to live?

“And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.”
— Matthew 18:5

Alven’s eyes were sunken and his body listless before he started receiving MannaPack® meals from FMSC partner International Care Ministries (ICM). Now? This boy is full of life.

When I meet FMSC partners and recipients of our food around the world, I am still taken aback by just how critical this food is.

You and I are living through the largest hunger crisis in modern history.

The war in Ukraine has raged for close to two years now — with no sign of ending soon. Food shortages and violence have pushed parts of Haiti to the edge of starvation. And the worst drought in decades gave way to devastating floods in Somalia.

As a difficult year ends, FMSC food distribution partners around the world are already bracing for a new hunger surge in 2024.

El Nino–driven climate crises alone are expected to impact the food security of a staggering 110 million people.

Every year, our allocation committee is faced with the somber task of determining how many meals we can send to each of our partners. In regions struck by drought, torn by conflict, on the brink of famine … the question of who gets food feels like an even weightier question:

Who gets to live?

When I think about the hunger around us and the hunger ahead, I think about Alven. Children like Alven are thriving because donors like you stepped forward to provide essential meals.

These last few weeks and days of the year are critical.

Your support will help FMSC finish the year strong so we can continue to provide lifechanging — even lifesaving — meals to children and families who don’t know where their next meal is coming from. Your gift today will help us say YES to more meals to feed more kids in 2024.

I know God’s heart breaks for these children and these families. And I know that He’s called us to respond. Will you give today?
