No Borders: FMSC Meals Changing Lives in Burundi

“Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you." -- Jeremiah 32:17

This post is part of a series about Feed My Starving Children meals reaching hard to reach places. See the first installment HERE. You can read the rest of the series by searching "no borders" on our website.

Vincent’s family ran completely out of food.

Several of the five adults and six children were so malnourished they couldn’t walk. Vincent said they were just waiting for death.

“We had just spent several days without eating,” he said. “We were going to starve. If they had not come two days later, we would all be dead.”

The children were able to go back to school and are doing well.

“We try to manage this gift well, Vincent said. “God bless the people who saved us from death.”

Burundi, one of the world's poorest nations, is struggling to emerge from a 12-year, ethnic-based civil war, according to the BBC.

Much of Burundi’s history has been turbulent, and the country continues to face many political and economic challenges. Around 30 percent of children under age 5 are underweight, according to the CIA World Factbook.

Feed My Starving Children partners ReachNow International and Feed the Hungry work in some of the toughest places. These partners were able to deliver food to African Revival Ministries, an organization that works with vulnerable groups like minority pygmy tribes, street children and AIDS patients.

We praise God that meals are able to reach the people of Burundi through these partnerships, and we pray that these meals will continue to provide nourishment and hope.

Please pray with us that the power of food will continue to reach the tough places, where children deserve to not only survive, but to dream for a future. As you read this, there are regions that FMSC is currently unable to reach. Please pray for open doors and partnerships in those regions.
