In the span of one November week, two powerful storms — Typhoon Kalmaegi and Super Typhoon Fung-wong — slammed into the Philippines.

Kalmaegi, the deadliest storm to hit the country this year, affected more than 2.4 million people and caused over 230 deaths, in addition to widespread flooding, landslides and infrastructure damage.
