Stories of Feeding God's Children Hungry in Body & Spirit

FMSC’s response to the Venezuela earthquakes

Weeks have passed since two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela just 39 seconds apart.

On June 24, buildings fell like dominoes. Thousands of people died. Families lost homes and loved ones. Before the quakes, Venezuela was one of the most food-insecure countries in the world. Now, it’s a humanitarian catastrophe.

The first days of rescue are over. But the long work of recovery has only begun — and food is critical.

Within days, Feed My Starving Children received requests for more than 3.8 million additional meals to respond in Venezuela.

FMSC was ready because the work began long before the ground started shaking. Donors had already funded meals. Volunteers had packed them. And FMSC had already built long-term partnerships that could help reach the hardest-hit communities in Venezuela.

Even in the face of overwhelming need and difficult conditions, our partners knew they could turn to FMSC.

They knew they could turn to you.

We quickly organized shipments to partners serving affected communities. But the need — in Venezuela and around the world — is growing fast.

Families in Venezuela need food now. Children elsewhere are counting on us, too. To reach them all, we must fund and pack more meals.

The headlines have slowed. The work has not.

Hope is greater than hunger

The stories coming out of Venezuela are heartbreaking. But through it all, here is what we know:

Hope is greater than hunger. Greater than disaster. Greater than the fear that one person can’t make a difference.

Hope is alive in Venezuela and in communities around the world where FMSC meals reach children and families every day.

Each 29-cent MannaPack® meal may not sound like much. But to a family facing hunger after disaster, it can mean everything.

Your gift is hope in action

It helps FMSC respond in Venezuela while keeping meals available after disaster, through conflict and wherever families urgently need food.

Thank you for trusting FMSC with your generosity. We do not take that trust lightly.
